that are believed to be hamartomatous proliferations of vascular endothelial cells. They are bright red to blue in color, sharply demarcated from the surrounding skin or mucosal tissue, and usually located on the head and neck in childhood (1). Spinal intradural extramedullary capillary hemangiomas are extremely rare and only a few cases have been reported (2-8). They appear isointense or hypointense relative to the spinal cord on T1weighted images, isointense or slightly hyperintense on T2-weighted images, and exhibit a strong homogenous enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images. To our knowledge, intradural extramedullary capillary hemangiomas with a long segment of transient T2 hyperintensity in the spinal cord have not previously been reported. We present a rare case of thoracic intradural extramedullary capillary hemangioma that was accompanied by a long segment of transient T2 hyperintensity in the spinal cord.

Hemangiomas are considered as vascular malformations which are categorized by the type of vascular channel to capillary, cavernous, venous or arteriovenous(1). Their usual locations are soft tissue , cutaneous or subcutaneous tissue and bone especially vertebra(2).However, intradural extramedullary hemangiomas are rare and most of them fall in cavernous type category. Hereby, authors report a w...
متن کاملSpinal intradural capillary hemangioma: MR findings.
We report a case of a spinal intradural capillary hemangioma. On MR images, a well-circumscribed intradural mass was detected at the T8-T9 level. The signal intensity of the mass relative to the spinal cord was isointense on T1-weighted images, hyperintense on T2-weighted images, and showed homogeneous, strong enhancement on contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images. The mass had both extramedullary...

Background & Importance: Cavernous angiomas are typically superficial lesionscreated by anomalous vessels and found in the skin or mucosa, but intradural locations are rare especially in the spine. We report a case of the spinal intradural Cavernous angiomas of the lumbar spine. Case Presentation: A 53-year-old man presented with a 6-month history of low back pain and bilateral radicular pai...
متن کاملIntradural Extramedullary Capillary Hemangioma in the Upper Thoracic Spine: A Review of the Literature
Capillary hemangiomas are benign tumors found in the skin and soft tissues in younger people. They occur in the central nervous system only rarely, and intradural occurrence is extremely rare. We report here a 60-year-old man presenting with thoracic girdle pain and progressive gait disturbance. Magnetic resonance images of the thoracic spine showed a 12 × 8 × 20 mm, well-defined intradural mas...

Capillary hemangiomas involving the neuraxis are very uncommon. In the spinal cord, they are located mainly intradural and extramedullary.1 According to the literature, vascular lesions account for approximately 6%–7% of all intradural spinal tumors, although intramedullary capillary are extremely rare.2 To our knowledge, only four cases in conus medullaris have been previously described since ...
